Join us for our August Luncheon — a relaxed Summer Social where we celebrate friendship, connection, and community. Whether you’re a longtime member or brand new to Women of Nassau, this is the perfect chance to catch up with familiar faces and make new friends.

As the saying goes, "Make new friends, but keep the old — one is silver, the other gold." Come share stories, laughter, and good food in a casual, friendly setting. We look forward to seeing you there!

Update - Update- Update

Sip, Swirl & Savor at Our Women’s Luncheon!

It’s wine o’clock, ladies! Join us as Jeff Freese, owner of Ash Street Cigar Bar in Fernandina Beach, pours a selection of his favorite wines and shares the stories behind each sip. From light and crisp to bold and rich, you’ll taste your way through a curated lineup designed to delight your palate. Bring your girlfriends, your curiosity, and get ready for an afternoon of flavor, laughter, and good company.

After nearly 34 years in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry — serving in leadership roles from Territory Manager to Vice President of Sales — Jeff Freese was ready for a new chapter. In 2023, he traded in a demanding travel schedule for island life in Fernandina Beach, where he and his wife have made their forever home.  That change sparked a new challenge: creating a welcoming space to enjoy exceptional wines and warm conversation.  In February 2024, they opened Ash Street Cigar Bar in a beautifully restored historic building, offering carefully curated wines from around the world, craft beers, cocktails, and small plates from local eateries.  While the name nods to Jeff’s love of premium cigars, the bar has become equally known for its wine tastings, Ladies Nights, and relaxed, friendly atmosphere.  At the luncheon, Jeff will share some of his favorite wines — and the stories behind them — in a tasting designed to be both approachable and memorable.

We (Ash Street Cigar Bar) are a community of like-minded individuals who enjoy socializing and participating in fun activities together.  Our club (Ash Street Cigar Bar) was founded in 2010 and since then we have grown to over 500 members. We organize events such as hiking trips, wine tastings, game nights, and more. Our goal is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone can feel comfortable and make new friends.

PROGRAM:   Michelle Holbrook, Chandler’s Hope Clothes Closet:  A Legacy of Love and Healing

Founded in December 2023, Chandler’s Hope Clothes Closet was born from profound loss and a powerful desire to bring healing and dignity to others. It was established by Michele Holbrook and Colleen Perry, two mothers united in grief after the tragic passing of their children, Chandler Cook and Rachel Perry, both lost to addiction.

What began as a simple act of compassion - handing out Gatorade to those in need - quickly evolved into something greater. Michele and Colleen saw the overwhelming need for basic necessities among people facing homelessness, addiction, and hardship. From this awareness came a vision: a mobile clothes closet offering not just clothing, but hope, dignity, and a human connection.

With every shirt, coat, or pair of shoes shared, Chandler’s Hope honors the memory of Chandler and Rachel. It stands as a tribute to their lives and a symbol of the resilience and compassion of their mothers. Today, the mobile closet travels through communities, providing clothing and comfort to those who need it most—reminding each person they are seen, valued, and not alone.

Chandler’s Hope Clothes Closet is more than a mission—it’s a movement of love, rooted in pain but blossoming in purpose.

Wines of the World Redux

There will be a special raffle at the July Luncheon.  Wines were generously donated by many members as part of the Royal Tea fundraiser for Chandler’s Hope Wines of the World basket. They were leftovers! And we all love leftovers! All of these will be raffled off as a set a the luncheon. Bring extra cash so you can be the lucky winner! This is a continuing project with our Philanthropy Committee and will benefit Chandler’s Hope to benefit their Blessing Bags Project.

PROGRAM BY Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors

Presented by Theresa Hartz, an Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors,  who will speak to us about Right Whales which migrate to Amelia Island every winter to give birth and nurture their calves.  The AI Whale Ambassadors' goal  is to introduce and educate Amelia Islanders about the Right Whale, which are an endangered species.  Even though the North Atlantic Right Whale is bigger than a school bus, they are very difficult to see when boating.  So, like the turtles, they are an important part of our island culture.

Theresa will discuss the whales, how they get to Amelian island  every year and why; why they are endangered; and the Amelia Island Whale Festival and other events that take place each year.

Right Whale Festival

November 2-3, 2024
